Publishing Ethics
AI Med follows COPE Core Practices and the ICMJE Recommendations.
The journal expects originality, disclosure of conflicts of interest, appropriate ethics approval, and integrity in authorship, review, data, and reporting. Editors investigate credible concerns and keep editorial decisions independent of commercial considerations. Manuscripts are checked for duplicate publication and text overlap during editorial assessment; no third-party similarity detection service is used. Authorship. Everyone listed as an author must have made a substantive contribution to the work, approved the submitted version, and agreed to its publication. Gift, ghost, and guest authorship are not accepted, and any change to the author list after submission requires a written explanation signed by all authors. Conflicts of interest. Authors must disclose financial and non-financial interests that could be seen to influence the work, including employment, consultancy, grants, patents, and personal relationships. Reviewers and editors declare conflicts and are excluded from decisions where a conflict exists. Research ethics. Studies involving human participants, human data, or animals must report the approving body, the approval reference, and consent procedures, or state a verified exemption. Identifiable participant information must not be published without explicit consent. Data and images. Reported data must be original and reproducible. Image manipulation that affects interpretation, selective reporting, and undisclosed reuse of data are treated as misconduct. Authors may be asked for underlying data during review or after publication. Artificial intelligence. AI tools may support language editing and analysis but cannot be listed as authors. Authors remain responsible for the accuracy of the work and must disclose substantive use of generative tools, as set out in the AI use policy. Corrections and retractions. Where an error or concern is substantiated, the journal publishes a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction, and updates Crossref metadata so that the DOI resolves to the current record. Reporting concerns. Concerns may be sent to aimed@ai-press.org. Reports are assessed by the editorial office, handled confidentially where possible, and answered in writing.
