Peer Review Process
AI Med uses a double-blind peer review process designed to support independent, evidence-based editorial decisions.
Initial Assessment
The editorial office checks whether a submission is complete, within scope, appropriately prepared, and consistent with the journal's research-integrity requirements. Manuscripts may be declined before external review when they do not meet these baseline requirements.
Double-Blind Review
AI Med uses double-blind peer review. Authors should submit a blinded manuscript where required. Author identities are not disclosed to reviewers, and reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors, except where an approved process explicitly requires otherwise.
Independent Reviewers
Every research paper and other scholarly manuscript submitted to AI Med is assessed by at least two independent external reviewers with relevant expertise before an acceptance decision and publication. Reviewers assess originality, methodological rigour, ethical appropriateness, clarity, validity of conclusions, and relevance to the journal.
Editorial Decisions and Revision
Reviewer recommendations are advisory. The Editor-in-Chief or delegated handling editor makes the final decision after considering the manuscript, reviews, author responses, revisions, and applicable integrity requirements. Revisions may be returned to reviewers or assessed by the handling editor.
Conflicts and Confidentiality
Reviewers and editors must keep submitted manuscripts, reports, correspondence, and associated information confidential. Anyone with a personal, professional, institutional, or financial conflict must decline or withdraw, and a replacement editor or reviewer is assigned where appropriate.
Exceptions and Integrity
Editorials, announcements, news, and comparable non-research editorial content may receive editorial assessment rather than external peer review; their content type is identified on the publication record. The journal does not tolerate peer-review manipulation, fabricated reviewer identities, fraudulent reviews, or interference with editorial decisions.
Appeals
Authors may submit a documented appeal or complaint through the published editorial contact. Appeals are assessed fairly and, where recusal is necessary, referred to an independent editor or responsible contact.
